Wizwonder: Website design
Designing a landing page for an online platform to learn magic, from concept to prototype.
Role
Web Designer
Industry
E-learning
Duration
2 weeks

Context:
This project was designed in 10k designers Cohort 7, where the brief provided to me was: Design a one pager website for an online platform for learning magic tricks.
Research:
I started the project w/ some basic brainstorming around 5W, 1H questions.
I also researched around current ways of learning magic online i.e. user journey, pain point of users & what could be potential objective for designing the landing page.
User Story:
An aspiring magician comes across magic through live show or video
Decides to self learn
No proper guidance for him to learn magic, therefore feels lonely
Quits self learning & starts searching for communities
Found one but it's 2 hours away. Can’t travel 4x a month
Searches for online communities to learn magic
Core Pain Points:
Feels lonely while learning magic
Learning magic feels chaotic as there is no order
Messy Middle:
After finalizing the user persona, problem I will focus in my landing page. I went ahead and did mood boarding + created lo-fi wireframe, decided on copy.
This was a back & forth process which went for a while. Simultaneously I also started working on final designs (theme).
After a feedback round w/ my mentor I finally jumped into crafting final visuals for the landing page.
Final design:

Reflections:
Through this project I learnt quite a few things ranging from:
Understanding user's journey to importance of copy,
How spacing & hierarchy affects design.
The ability to justify your design decisions be it on visual or UX level.
You should avoid putting anything that doesn't add value to the story you are building towards.
